Ashley Redmond: I am here with Rudy Luukko, Conference Chair of the 2012 Morningstar Investment Conference, being held June 6 at The Carlu, in Toronto. Here at Morningstar we're really excited about the conference and since Rudy knows it inside out, he's here, and Rudy, why don't you tell us a little bit about it.

Rudy Luukko: Thanks Ashley. It's our annual showcase for the investment community, for financial advisors in particular; and we're going to tell them what they need to know regarding market conditions, investor trends, what's new in regulations, some tips on practice management, and we're hoping to have a full informative day.

Redmond: Who is speaking on the market outlook?

Luukko: We've assembled a panel of three experts, very different disciplines. We think they will really give us different perspectives on what's happening out there and where to invest. We have from CI Signature Group, Chief Investment Officer Eric Bushell. We have coming up from Boston, Jurrien Timmer, Director of Global Macro for Fidelity Investments and from RBC Global Asset Management, we have Eric Lascelles, Chief Economist; and as well on fixed income we are going to be briefed by Manulife's Dan Janis.

Redmond: Great, and what's on the agenda for practice management?

Luukko: Our practice management coach this year is going to be Randy Ambrosie, a very well-known fellow in the investment community. He is now Head of Accretive Advisor. He is going to have the topic of Moneyball for Advisors, and we expect some excellent tips from Randy on how to improve your practice and how to have better relationships with your clients.

Redmond: Great. I see that there's also here, a panel discussion on the changing landscape for advisors?

Luukko: That's right. We sure had a lot of changes, not only the rocky market environment, shifts in investor preferences as to what they want to buy. Changes coming up in regulations and disclosure that advisors must make, and to walk us through all these, and perhaps debate some of the things going on, we have Goshka Folda, Senior Managing Director at Investor Economics; we have Charlie Sims, CEO of Mackenzie Financial and he is also a chair of IFIC, the trade group, and from the self-regulatory side, we have Susan Wolburgh Jenah, she is the Head of IIROC, which is the watchdog for the broker community.

Redmond: Anything else you would like to add?

Luukko: Yes. Coming up from Pennsylvania, we have one of the real executive heavyweights in the investment fund industry, Bill McNabb, of the Vanguard Group and he's going be talking about global trends in the investment fund industry; and last but not least I'll mention that we have a debate between passive and active investing. We have Mary Anne Wiley, of iShares ETFs, she's going to promote passive in this debate and playing the role of the advocate of active investing is Sadiq Adatia of Sun Life Global Investments. So we look forward to an entertaining and informative discussion from those two.

Redmond: Thanks so much Rudy.

Luukko: Thanks.

Redmond: We're really looking forward to it here at Morningstar and we hope you can join us. For more information on the conference, just go to Morningstar.ca.
