PALTrak is new and improved and now offers even more features to help you research mutual funds, market your professional services, prospect and close potential clients and service your current client needs.
Now Even More Comprehensive Information at Your Fingertips
PALTrak combines authoritative data with powerful analytical tools to provide you with comprehensive data on over 5000 mutual and segregated funds. We've increased our performance history from 15 years to 25 years to offer you an even longer historical perspective on funds. To help you navigate through the expanding universe of funds, we've added a search by fund code feature where you can enter a fund code or a partial name of a fund.
Stay Ahead of the Game
Using PALTrak, you can view fund code information including fees, commissions, investment minimums and DSC redemption schedules. You also get comprehensive taxation data including measures for tax-adjusted rates of return, capital gains exposure, tax liability and tax efficiency ratios. With over 30 types of reports, PALTrak allows you to educate your clients about all aspects of the funds in their portfolios.
Diversification Tools: Similarity and Correlation
With so many mutual funds on the market, it is inevitable that investors will have difficulty distinguishing one fund from another. Because there are an infinite number of ways that funds can be assembled, funds within a category may be similar. Such similarity, or in fact clear dissimilarity, can be used to help choose funds in building a diversified portfolio. PALTrak's Similarity Analysis uses two sets of data, performance and holdings, to analyze the similarity or dissimilarity between funds.
We've also added Correlation Analysis that measures the relationship between a fund and a relevant benchmark, a fund and an index, or a fund versus any other fund. Correlation ratios of 1, 0 and -1 suggest positive, zero and negative correlation between the two.
The Correlation Matrix, a third diversification tool we've added to PALTrak, identifies how closely related selected funds are to one another, or to indexes. The Correlation Matrix shows the correlation of a set of funds, based on their performance over trailing three-, five-, 10- or 15-year periods. The matrix is colour-coded to indicate the degree of correlation, ranging from high to highly negative.
New One Page Fund Summary Report
PALTrak now includes a one-page PDF Fund Summary report highlighting a fund's key performance, asset allocation, and operations information. Useful for both client communication or for your own research purposes, the Fund Summary report can be printed, saved or emailed to clients, as well as customized to include
your company logo.
New Comparative Asset Allocation Bar Charts
The Comparative Asset Allocation bar charts identify similarities and dissimilarities between funds holdings and allow you to quickly re-balance a portfolio. The graph shows funds' asset allocation both as a stacked bar chart, and as percentages. Use the graph to compare a fund to its category average, the category index, to multiple funds or to portfolios.
New Fund Style Boxes and Updated Fund Style Report
The Morningstar Style Box has been assigned to all funds so you can see at a glance which funds invest in, for example, relatively small capitalization and growth-oriented stocks, or relatively large capitalization and value-oriented stocks. For fixed income funds, you can quickly differentiate between funds that hold high quality/low duration bonds, and those that invest primarily in low quality/high duration bonds. The Fund Style report visually classifies funds by investment style.
New Trailing Returns Comparison Graph
The Trailing Returns Comparison graph shows the historical trailing period returns, where you choose the period, for any two funds over the course of their history. This report also contains a table showing the highest and lowest returns, when they occurred, and the average return for both selected funds.
Desktop Application with Web Capability
The MAC icon in PALTrak links users directly to MorningstarAdvisor.ca, Morningstar's premium website for advisors.
