Top Canadian Stock Gainers and Losers of July 2023

In a reversal from June, in July, cannabis gained – with Tilray, Canopy and Curaleaf stocks leading the charge, while Canfor, TC Energy and Telus plunged.

Top Stock Gainers in July 2023

Tilray Brands TLRY shot up 61.46% in July, erasing much of its losses, leaving it down 9.8% for the year to date.

Canopy Growth WEED bounced 27.45% last month, which didn’t help the stock much, as it is still down 79.3% for the year.

Curaleaf CURA rallied nearly 20% in July, leaving the stock down 16% so far this year.

Nutrien NTR gained 16.19% in July, but the stock is down 6.64% for the year to date. The company’s stock ended the month with a Morningstar Rating of 3 stars, trading close to our $90 fair value estimate.

Magna International MG climbed 13.4% during the month, lifting shares 13.1% for the year to date. The company’s stock ended the month with a Morningstar Rating of 3 stars, trading close to our $93 fair value estimate.

Top Stock Losers in July 2023

Canfor Corp CFP fell 12.49% in July, leaving the stock down 2.35% for the year.

TC Energy TRP lost 11.73% for the month, and the stock is down 9% for the year. Find out why the stock is so cheap here.

Blackberry BB fell 8.58% in July, but the stock is still up 52.15% year-to-date.

Northland Power NPI fell 7.31% last month, and is down 29.41% for the year so far.
